Lipoma Removal

Lipomas are a slow-growing fatty lump that is mostly found between skin and muscle. A lipoma can feel doughy and slightly moved with little pressure but it does not feel tender normally. For the most part, they are non-cancerous growths but can be very bothersome.

Lipomas can develop anywhere on the body. They are typically found:

• Underneath skin in places such as arms, legs, neck, back, and shoulders
• Feel soft and doughy
• Normally starts off as a small under the skin spots but they can grow larger
• It can be painful or sore

Lipomas can happen to anyone but mostly diagnosed in patients between the ages of 40-60 years old and genetic predispositions can factor in growths of lipomas.

especially for large ones. There are options that are less invasive and with minimal discomfort. With liposuction, a small incision is made to allow to vacuum the growth underneath the skin. However, this type of procedure is more difficult than excisions to remove all the fatty tissue of the lipoma.
