Keloid Removal

Normally, in our bodies, when there is trauma or some type of cut, the body initiates a clotting process whereby a scar is formed on the site of injury. However, in certain situations, the clotting process does more than is required. This results in the formation of a keloid which is solid red/purple nodule. There is also a genetic predisposition to keloid formation making certain groups of people, especially African-Americans more susceptible. If you seek treatment for a keloid, it is important to seek it as soon as possible to prevent recurrence of the keloid post-treatment. The most common therapy is injection of a steroid onto the keloid where it prevents proliferation of cells of the scar site.
