What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels are a non-invasive method to strip away dead, dry and dull skin.
Different Types of Peels that Dr. Harold F. Farber, MD:
- Superficial peel: Usually alpha-hydroxy or a mild acidic chemical, that only penetrates the outer layer of the skin and gently exfoliates it. It can be used for mild skin discoloration and rough skin. It can be used on face, neck, chest, and hands
- Medium Peel: Usually Glycolic or trichloroacetic acid, penetrated the outer and middle layer of skin. It can be used for age spots, fine wrinkles, freckles, and skin discoloration
- Deep Peel: Usually Tricholoracetic acid or phenol, penetrates deep layers of the skin and remove damaged cells. Used to treat age spots, freckles, and deep scars. Usually only done face and only one treatment is normally needed.
